LANSING — The Michigan Legislative Black Caucus (“MLBC”) announced today that Michigan State Senator Marshall Bullock (D-Detroit) is the new chairman of the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus, replacing former State Representative Sheldon A. Neely (D-Flint).
Sen. Bullock, MLBC’s former 1st Vice Chair, ascends to the chairmanship as a result of Mr. Neeley’s election last week as the new mayor of Flint, Michigan. Mr. Neeley resigned as the state representative from the 34th House District on Monday immediately before being sworn in as Mayor. Sen. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor) has served as MLBC’s 2nd Vice Chair, and will replace Mr. Bullock as the 1st Vice Chair, effective immediately.

It is with exceptional distinction that I am committed to continuing the legacy that our founding members intended the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus to embody.”
A first-term senator, Mr. Bullock also currently serves as both the Senate’s Associate President Pro Tempore and Minority Vice Chair of the Families, Seniors and Veterans Committee, and is a member of the Insurance & Banking and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees.
